Description:
Chinese culture has been emphasized in nowadays education and art can serve as a bridge for students learning Chinese culture (Education Bureau, 2024.; 課程發展議會,2024). However, art and culture always contain contextual knowledge which may not be easy for students to learn. Based on this, the researcher hopes to design a board game to help primary students understand Chinese art and culture in an interesting way. Also, there are few board games related to Chinese art and culture on the market, so the researcher hope to make use of the game-based learning theory and refer to the existing board game to design a new game that focus on Chinese art and culture. The action-based research method is used to explore how to utilize game-based learning in board game design and evaluate the learning performance of students. Through the final design of board game, playing with the students, interviews and questionnaires results, the findings show that board game has the potential to help primary students understand Chinese art and culture, but the effectiveness of the game will be affected by the design of the board game and facilitator's role
