Description:
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Online Museum Exhibition has been an alternative to the Physical Museum Exhibition. Thus, teachers have the resources to apply these developed materials in class and are willing to enhance students’ learning effectiveness through innovative approaches. Discussions about Online Museum Exhibitions could replace physical museum exhibitions, considering their accessibility, flexibility, and cost-saving (Sylaiou, 2024; Rowe,2021). An Online Museum Exhibition may bring opportunities in education due to its features, providing teachers with more flexibility than the Physical Museum Exhibition. Still, students’ learning effectiveness should be further examined. This research focuses on the learning effectiveness of implementing Online Museum Exhibitions as a teaching tool in Hong Kong junior secondary art education. The researcher applied the same teaching materials with minor adjustments to students’ backgrounds, including Online Museum Exhibitions, teaching slides, and worksheets, in 3 schools with different education settings to examine the learning effectiveness among students. Mixed methods research used triangulation methods, including qualitative (semi-structured interviews with three teachers and six students) and quantitative research (240 student surveys), with the researcher's observations. This research reveals that Online Museum exhibitions may not successfully attract students' interest and lead to their moderate feelings. While both Band 1 and Banschoolshool reflected a nearly medium level of learning effectiveness, with the technical problems found during the application, the Online Museum Exhibition has room for improvement. It cannot replace the Physical Museum Exhibition
