Description:
This study examined how online teaching approaches predicted students' learning motivation and investigated the moderation effect of personality. One hundred and one undergraduate students in Hong Kong were recruited to complete an online questionnaire on the perception of online interaction (level of communication), learning motivation (interest, tension, effort, self-efficacy), and personality (introversion). Results demonstrated that personality significantly moderated the prediction of level of communication on learning motivation. For extraverts, a higher level of communication would result in a higher level of motivation. In contrast, for introverts, a higher level of communication would result in a lower level of motivation. The research highlighted that educators should take students' personalities into consideration in helping students to gain the best learning experience
