Description:
Students with attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) may have to learn physical activity in an undesirable setting if the attitudes of teachers are negative. The aim of this research was to identify predictors of attitudes towards including students with ADHD among in-service physical educators. In-service physical educators (n = 151) from Hong Kong completed a survey measuring demographic variables, attitudes, self-esteem, and mindfulness. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that self-esteem was a positive predictor of attitudes. However, self-esteem was no longer a significant predictor after mindfulness was entered into the regression model. These findings suggest that mindfulness based training programs may be promising for improving teachers' attitudes towards including students with ADHD
