In the natural condition, hydroxylation is preferred over halogenation due to the involvement of molecular oxygen. Halogenation in the inner bio-environment requires a complex co-effect of enzyme chains or groups, which is hard to simulate in artificial reactions. Thus, developing an effective and selective model for halogenation is important for synthetic chemistry study. This project proposed synthetic iron(III) complexes for C-H halogenation. Ligands based on 6-(Aminomethyl)-2,2'-bipyridine were synthesized and identified, while corresponding iron(III) complexes were examined
