The use of AI has been prevalent across multiple disciplines upon the release of ChatGPT, a generative chatbot. Language educators have considered incorporating generative AI in language learning and teaching, whereas there have been few researches assessing students’ psychological learning outcomes and AI literacy. This study employed a mixed-methods approach to compare the aforementioned 3 aspects of learning among 10 students receiving AI-intervened grammar courses versus 10 receiving conventional grammar courses at a local primary school. Researchers administered online questionnaires on psychological learning outcomes and AI literacy. Semi-formal individual interviews were also conducted to triangulate findings in the pre and post-tests and the questionnaires. Students who received AI-intervened grammar courses improved significantly in their grammatical awareness and obtained a thorough understanding of AI Literacy. Yet, the two groups did not differ much in their psychological engagement. Factors shaping students’ learning outcomes were accounted for. Pedagogical implications are discussed
