The identity and term of a "Hong Konger" will often have a misconception for only those individuals that are Locally Grown Han Chinese but not for the other ethnic groups that exists in Hong Kong. There are Ethnic Minorities have lived in Hong Kong for a long period of time that their country of origin. Hong Kong is not a country or city of the People's Republic of China but a Special Administrative Region with its own judicial system. Most of the Locally Grown Han Chinese and Ethnic Minority individuals that lives and considers Hong Kong to be their home and place of origin has a higher tendency to consider themselves as a "Hong Konger" but not as a Chinese National living in the People's Republic of China or Mainland China. The Ethnic Minorities and Locally Grown Han Chinese in Hong Kong could have a different perception towards their Sense of Belonging and self-identification as a "Hong Konger" due their skin colour, languages spoken along with being treated differently from the dominant ethnic group of the Locally Grown Han Chinese in Hong Kong.The Ethnic Minorities and Locally Grown Han Chinese individuals in Hong Kong can have a similar or different perception towards their self-identification and Sense of Belonging to Hong Kong as a "Hong Konger" or other ways of referring their identity. There will eventually be a need to launch an academic research on comparing the Sense of Belonging of Ethnic Minorities and Locally Grown Han Chinese to Hong Kong as "Hong Kongers". This leads to conducting a research project on investigating and finding out the similarities or differences that the Ethnic Minorities and Locally Grown Han Chinese have towards their Sense of Belonging to Hong Kong along with the reasons for their similarities or differences towards their Sense of Belonging to Hong Kong. Thus, the title adopted for this research study is "We are Hong Kongers": A comparative study of Ethnic Minorities and Locally Grown Han Chinese perceptions towards their Sense of Belonging to Hong Kong
